Introducing the Hybrid Welder™ with Battery Powered Welder Head

Holland’s mobile flash-butt welding services began in 1972 with a welder mounted in a retrofitted Pullman car. Today, Holland’s fleet comprises 200 MobileWelders® across North America and Australia. Adding to our portfolio of mobile welding capabilities is the new Hybrid Welder™, which produces the same high-quality flash-butt welds Holland is known for in a more sustainable package.

Russ Gehl, Holland’s Executive Vice President of Business Operations, said, “This is a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable future for rail welding. As railroads continue to champion green initiatives, we continue to invest in developing technology that supports our customer partners.” Gehl also noted that the Hybrid Welder is another step towards developing smaller, lighter flash-butt welding systems to provide flexibility for use in tunnels and other applications. “Holland is looking forward to our fleet of the future and providing more of these welders across the globe,” noted Gehl.

Holland’s Hybrid Welder features the same industry-leading technology as a traditional MobileWelder®, with a battery-powered welder head. This design eliminates mechanical systems that are known failure points and increases Holland’s already industry-leading uptime. There are many benefits to this sustainable rail welding solution, including decreased fuel usage and emissions generation, reduced noise to improve the safety of operators and the surrounding environment, and compliance with future emission requirements associated with traditional generators.
