Track View
Rangecam Track View
Rangecam Track View provides viewing and reporting of track condition data including geometry, GRMS, rail wear, profile, and rail flaws. Data is graphically represented on route maps that are drawn from GPS coordinates and can be overlaid on satellite, terrain and street-view maps. Track condition and exception reports can be generated by pre-programmed, menu-driven search tools that can be customized for each user. Charts and displays show how track degrades over time and measure the rate of change.
Track Condition Made Visible
Track View generates strip charts of geometry, GRMS and rail wear channels, exceptions and rail flaws, track class (both posted and “safe”), and rail wear classification. Data from different sources can be combined for a full picture of track conditions. Current data can be shown with one or more earlier runs as overlays, showing how the track has changed over time. Threshold colors and lines are used to emphasize exception conditions.

Query Tools Find Exceptions
Rangecam Track View can quickly search data to find exceptions or other track conditions of interest. Query results can be sent to a selection of reports or exported to a spreadsheet for further analysis. Examples:
- find track locations where 136 lb rail is worn to 17 mm vertically or 15 mm laterally.
- find reverse cant combined with track gauge more than 1” wide
- find areas of high gauge widening ratio (weak track) or high projected loaded gauge (wide gauge under load)

Trend Charts Measure Degradation Rates
Wear trend charts show the rate of rail wear based on time or tonnage — essential information for rail replacement planning. For each curve, charts show when railroad-defined wear limits will be crossed if wear trends continue. The software automatically recognizes when rail has been replaced, and restarts the trend line after the replacement date.
Trend charts can also be used to show rates of gauge widening and cant change.
Reporting
Track View has a wide selection of reports available in text and CSV format, including:
- Rail Inventory Summary and Detail (rail type and wear classification).
- Track Segment Report (curves and tangent segments, obstacles and wayside assets)
- Threshold Table Report
- Exception Reports (geometry, GRMS, and rail flaws)
- Query Summary and Detail reports
- Tie Summary and Tie Statistics reports
Upgradeability
Rangecam Track View is a basic version of IM’s full-featured Track Analyst software. Track Analyst includes additional features for rail replacement planning, tie planning, and curve performance analysis. This means no relearning is required when upgrading from Track View to Track Analyst. All Rangecam products for rail and track are also fully database-compatible. If you find that Track View meets many of your needs but not all, an upgrade may be the next logical step.
