Single Car CWR Unloader Unit Details

The Single Car CWR Unloader Unit is built on a 95 ft. (29 Meter) purchased new or pre-owned car. Each car car is thoroughly inspected to assure compliance with current standards and regulations, before construction begins.

The Rail Handling Equipment

Adjustable Front End Ramps

At the front end of the car are two independently adjustable hydraulically operated ramps with full length leading edge rollers.

Fixed Threader Boxes

These boxes are securely welded to the struture. Each is designed to allow the passage of the cables, hardware, and rails with a minimum of interference or damage while maintaining control and stability of the string. Hydraulic clamp cylinders are mounted atop each box. These cylinders move the roller up and down to guide the rails through the boxes and toward the adjustable boxes while an attached roller allows easy passage of the ribbon without damage to the rail or the box. Each clamp cylinder can be independently operated from the operators station.Single Car CWR Unloader

Horizontally Adjustable Threader Boxes

The adjustable threader boxes are mounted under the deck of the car. Each box is hydraulically operated and can be extended or retracted independently by the operator. Both boxes are equipped with clamp cylinders and roller to control and guide the ribbon into position. When not in use, these boxes can be locked in place in the retracted position.

Hydraulic Winches

The two hydraulically powered winches are rigidly mounted to the car body below the deck level but within the envelope of the car. The operator can control the direction and speed of each winch independently.

The Power

The Power Platform

The power platform is the heart of the unit. It has been engineered to provide the greatest efficiency in the minuimum of space.  The platform consists the operators station, powerskid engine, pumps valves and plumbing, hydruaulic reservoir, fuel tank and equipment storage box.

Operators Station

The operators station is positioned with the greatest visibility and safety in mind. Controls are placed for ease of operation and maintenance. A safety screen is provided to help protect the operator during the unloading operation.

Powerskid Engine

Holland equips its unloader unit with a reliable Cummins diesel engine to power the hydraulic system pumps.

Pumps, Valves, Accumulator and Plumbing

Since many different movements can happen at the same time, it is important to have enough pressure to drive the system. Holland's unloader maintains constant pressure with three pumps.  One pump drives the adjustable front end ramps, adjustable boxes and clamp cylinders. The other two pumps drive the winches (one for each). By dividing the load this way, pressure can be maintained so equipment operates at maximum efficiency. Pumps, valves, and accumulators are easy to reach and maintain.Single Unloader

Hydraulic Reservoir

The 200 gallon (757 Liter) hydraulic reservoir provides an adequate supply of fluid and volume for heavy use. Cooling is performed by a radiator/heat exchanger.

Fuel Tank

A 200 gallon (757 Liter) fuel tank allows for extended operation without frequent refueling. An easy to read sight gauge displays fuel level.

Storage Box

Holland provides customers with standard Knaack JobMaster (#4830) locking storage boxes.  They provide over 25 cubic feet of space.
